ABRASIVE CLEANING MODULE

A Solution to Clean Abrasive

ABRASIVE CLEANING MODULE - ACM

THE WAY IT'S ALWAYS BEEN DONE

An important abrasive blasting component is the abrasive reclaim system and more specifically, the abrasive air wash system. This component has always been located in an elevated position near the elevator head section discharge, which is typically difficult to keep properly adjusted.

The basic concept of the air wash separator is to maintain a full curtain of abrasive while pulling air through this curtain to remove the fine particles from the abrasive mix. For over sixty years the basic design of the air wash separator has not changed. The abrasive falls over a fixed lip and is metered by a swinging baffle.

The most important job of the air wash separator is to maintain a full curtain of abrasive. Unfortunately, there are several reasons why this system does not work well and has been the Achilles heel for abrasive blasting systems for years.

  • The abrasive is not consistently fed onto the fixed lip

  • The design of the sharp corners causes micro dust to build in the corners

  • The flat surface in front of the swinging baffle catches and accumulates trash and debris.

WE SOLVE THE PROBLEM

Along with the air wash component being located in a difficult to maintain elevated position, Southern Equipment and Services, LLC has designed a new product which addresses the above problems.

The Abrasive Cleaning Module - ACM , brings the critical reclaim component to the ground for ease of maintenance as well as provides a walk-by visual to ensure the abrasive is constantly
being cleaned. In addition, we solved the intermittent abrasive flow issue as well as eliminated the sharp corners, flat surfaces in front of the swinging baffle and the swinging baffle.

THE RESULT:  A FULL CURTAIN OF CLEAN ABRASIVE, ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!
