Dust Collector - The Collectors associated with Wheel and Air Blast are predominantly Baghouse or Cartridge Style. There are some Wet Collectors - but they are used for specialty requirements- i.e explosion concerns / aluminum alloys.

Collectors are sized according to CFM - although that is important - air to cloth ratios and static pressures are equally important. The fan size / design and horse power provides the CFM, the cartridges / bags provide the cloth or filter media. The relationship between the two indicate the air to cloth ratio - dependent upon the blasting application / abrasive used - a good start point is 2:1 for wheel blast and 4:1 for air blast. Baghouses are much bigger than Cartridge collectors because the filter media is crimped and folded for the cartridges  - providing more filter media in a small area. There a three collectors most commonly used - shaker baghouses, reverse pulse bag houses and reverse pulse cartridge collectors.

Each are similar in operation - the fan pulls the air through the filter media that is enclosed in a steel expansion chamber. The particulate is captured  on the filter and via either blow down with compressed air or a shaker mechanism - the dust is removed and falls into a hopper, whereby the dust is contained and then disposed of.

Generally - wheel blast require approximately 1500-2000 cfm per wheel - dependent upon the application / horsepower - etc. Air Blast is a little different. The requirements for the booth are basically - width x height x 50 for a cross draft - i.e - 12' wide x 12' tall x 30' long booth would require a minimum of 7200 cfm - preferably at 6" static pressure.
