When you are filling a small blast pot manually, it is very easy to know if the pot is full or empty. When you get into larger, higher production units, it is more difficult to know how much abrasive is in the system and when to add abrasive. Many times the unit runs out or too much abrasive is added.
The AMS - was an evolution from the Drum Pallet. The Drum Pallet system holds abrasive in a 55 gallon drum placed over a hopper that has an air solenoid slide gate and level probe. The level probe lets the operator know when the feed hopper is low or empty. The AMS unit, in addition to the Drum Pallet, feeds, either the pneumatic or mechanical screw, in a uniform controlled manner. This method eliminates "dumping" of abrasive, which can cause the system to clog. The Main Storage Hopper above the blast pot also has a level probe. This probe indicates when the hopper is low and requires abrasive. The Main hopper tells the feed hopper to supply abrasive. Once the main hopper is satisfied, the feed hopper stops.
Adding abrasive to the feed hopper is a simple process by removing the drum pallet and replacing it with another drum pallet. There is no back breaking by manually toting abrasive, no ripping bags, no mess, no cardboard, no bags, no wooden pallets. You just have abrasive in the pot when you need it.
